Body Positive Sixth Form Workshops

Start: 17th Jun 2019 12:50pm

Duration: 2 hours

Students in Sixth Form will be having 4 sessions led by Rachel at Body Positive.

I would like to inform you that this term students in Key Stage 5 will be learning about aspects of ‘Sex and Relationships Education' (SRE) as part of the PSHEE and Citizenship Curriculum. The sessions will be led by trained professionals from Body Positive which is a charity that works with young people over the age of 16.  They currently work at all our local colleges.

The sessions focus on the importance of healthy and consensual relationships, encourage young people to become independent in looking after their sexual health, reduce stigma around sexual wellbeing and support diversity.  These tutorials are tailored to meet the needs of our students.  In addition, they are able to offer an opportunity to sign up for their CCard, which provides FREE condoms to young people living in Cheshire.

If you require more information, please visit their website at: https://www.bpcnw.co.uk/ or feel free to come in to school to see myself about any issues that may be worrying you about your child accessing these sessions.

You do of course, have the right to withdraw your child from these sessions, but I hope you will agree that providing students with correct information from a positive source will help students to keep themselves safe and also take more responsibility for themselves as adults in the future. Students may well want to talk to you at home about some of the issues raised in these discussion groups; most students ask when they are ready to receive the information! The sessions and their content are outlined overleaf and will be fully supported by Greenbank staff.  If your child needs to leave the room at any point during the session, they will be free to do so.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow students to participate without your signed consent.

Many thanks,

Daniele Langford (Deputy Head Upper School)
