Annual Reviews/EHCP's

All students at Greenbank have a Statement of Educational Need (SEN) or an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). Greenbank School adheres to the statutory requirements under the 1993 Education Act that all statements/EHCPs are to be reviewed annually.  It is important that parents attend the annual review of their child’s statement/EHCP to make sure that at least once a year the school, local borough and all the professionals involved monitor and evaluate the continued effectiveness and relevance of the provision set out in the statement/EHCP.

Interim or early reviews may be called if:

  • It is the recommendation from a previous annual review
  • Where a school identifies a pupil who is at serious risk of disaffection or exclusion
  • When a child has needs that are known to change rapidly
  • To reassure parents and professionals where there is disagreement.

Before the review meeting, Greenbank School will ask you to send in your views on your child’s progress over the past year.

The annual review in Year 9 is particularly important in preparing your child for his/her move to further education and adult life. This review will involve organisations who will play a major role when your child leaves school and will involve staff from the Careers Advisory service and social workers. As early as Year 9, a Transition Plan is initiated for your child’s move to adult life. The Transition Plan can be discussed and changed if necessary at later review meetings and students will be asked where appropriate their views about their future.
