Links with parents/carers

Greenbank staff believe dialogue with parents is an integral part of learning for the students. All students have home/school communication books which are completed daily by the students and staff. We value your communication through this book as a quick and speedy response to everyday reminders and notices. There may be a need to discuss specific matters with the form tutor; this of course can be done through a telephone call or a short meeting in school can be set up to discuss matters of concern in further detail.

Ofsted Report 2017 -

'The overwhelming majority of parents who spoke to Ofsted inspectors, or responded to Parent View, Ofsted's online questionnaire, are extremely positive about the school and would recommend it to others without hesitatation. All parents spoken to said that their children are 'happy and settled'. Many described the school as 'amazing' and said how they 'can't describe the difference it's made', that it is 'remarkable' and 'unparalleled'.  They also say staff are 'approachable and carign' and 'go the extra mile' to meet their child's needs.'

'A significant strength is the relationship that school has with its parents.  Although most pupils arrive at the school via the local authority organised transport, the school works very effectively at maintaining strong communication links with parents.  They do this for example, through home-school books, telephone calls and invitations to events such as regular coffee mornings.  Many parents say that staff are 'caring and easy to talk to'.  They comment that they are not just there for their child but also for them.  To this end, the school offers a range of training to parents and facilitates parents getting in touch with each other to share their experiences and support for eachother'.

Greenbank School holds regular events throughout the school year e.g. coffee mornings, Harvest and Christmas assemblies, Summer and Winter Fairs. Parents are invited to all of these events and staff are always happy to talk at these occasions.

Parents are involved on the Governors’ sub and full committee meetings offering a further channel of communication to promote ideas within the school.

The Headteacher sends a newsletter to Parents/Carers on a regular basis informing about developments, forthcoming events and significant achievements from classes.
